Qualifications and Training

A sustainability officer often has a degree or postgraduate qualification in a sustainability-related field, or a related field with relevant units. This could include environmental science, environmental studies, or a business-related degree with a focus on corporate responsibility and sustainability.

Technical training can involve a mix of formal qualifications, industry-specific certifications, and practical experience. A relevant degree or postgraduate qualification in environmental science, sustainability, or a related field is often a starting point. Additional training can include IEMA courses, energy management certifications, and courses focused on specific sustainability areas like ISO standards.

• Energy and Carbon Management Apprenticeship – Educ8 Training: This Level 3 apprenticeship, fully funded by the Welsh Government, focuses on energy procurement, community engagement, and analysis of energy consumption. It's designed to help businesses move towards sustainability and meet Net Zero targets.
• Energy and Carbon Management Apprenticeship – Cambrian Training: Cambrian Training offers a pioneering apprenticeship in Energy and Carbon Management, supporting businesses in Wales to reduce their carbon footprint and achieve Net Zero by 2050.
