Key Responsibilities
• Project planning: to develop as well as execute project plans, planning schedules and budgets for the construction of the port and distribution sector.
• Supervision of construction and installation: oversee the installation and construction of port infrastructure, conduct site inspections to monitor progress and quality.
• Health, safety and environmental regulations: ensure that during the construction and installation stage that the project aligns with Health, Safety and Environmental regulations.
• Procurement: work with procurement teams to source materials and equipment, and make sure they meet the requirements for the project.

Essential Skills
• Project Management: Requires the ability to manage the construction and installation process.
• Communication skills: For coordinating teams and contractors working on the project, as well as communicating with other parties, such as stakeholders.
• Working under pressure: The ability to manage challenges and deadlines whilst working on such an important project.
• Risk assessment: The ability to identify and address potential problems and hazards during the construction and installation process.
• Knowledge of construction and engineering: To have sufficient knowledge for the project, you must know about civil, structural and marine construction.
Qualifications and Training
A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (typically civil, mechanical, electrical, marine or chemical) A masters degree in Project management, Renewable energy or Marine engineering would also be useful for offshore renewable energy projects.
You can gain experience through internships and placements whilst at university, graduate schemes and entry-level roles (starting as a role that requires less experience, such as a site engineer, design engineer or assistant project engineer).
Degree apprenticeships in engineering provide practical experience as well as the necessary qualifications.
Such as Incorporated Engineer (IEng) or Chartered Engineer (CEng) gained through institutions such as the Institution of Civil Engineers, Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Institution of Engineering and Technology.
