Key Responsibilities
• Port logistics coordination: rack inbound shipments, manage inventory and coordinate with port authorities.
• Distribution: Organizing transport from the port to renewable energy project sites or storage locations.
• Documentation: Prepare and process shipping documentation, such as packing lists and customs declarations.
• Regulations: Ensuring compliance with import/export regulations as well as health, safety and environmental standards.

Essential Skills
• Logistics and supply chain knowledge: An understanding of port operations, such as shipping and cargo handling, as well as an understanding of the transport necessary for renewable energy components.
• Problem solving: Ability to manage any logistics issues, such as delays or damage.
• Time management: The ability to manage tight deadlines and changing schedules.
• Communication: Ability to communicate with port teams and external partners.
• Coordination: Ability to track and update multiple shipments and tasks simultaneously.
• Digital systems skills: Ability to use logistics systems and proficiency in Excel and tracking tools.
Qualifications and Training
A degree in a relevant field such as logistics, supply chain, maritime studies, business or engineering. A masters in logistics is also useful but optional.
Starting out in roles like a logistics assistant or port operations assistant will help you gain the relevant work experience.
Logistics apprenticeships are a potential way to gain work experience and a qualification, for example, the level 3 Transport and Warehouse Operations Supervisor Apprenticeship. Other companies may provide apprenticeships in logistics as well
NEBOSH or OSHA for health and safety, IMDG for dealing with dangerous goods, customs and freight forwarding training, PMP or PRINCE2 for project management, these are not necessary but are helpful.
