Operations Supervisor

An Operations Supervisor plays a key role in ensuring a smooth and efficient operation. In regard to the residential aspect of things, this would entail the implementation of energy storage solutions and overseeing the installation of the product through leadership and coordination.

Key Responsibilities

• Overseeing installation and maintenance: Supervision of the installation of renewable energy systems on residential properties. Ensure installations meet industry standards, safety regulations, and customer requirements. Additionally, Maintenance Supervision. This involves the coordination of regular maintenance of the renewable energy systems to ensure they operate optimally and efficiently.
Similarly to project management, you will need Leadership. Supervision of staff and communication are key to the role of an operations supervisor. You will need to delegate tasks to technicians, installers and maintenance people and ensure staff training is up to date.
• Make Strategic decisions: As one of the leading positions within the chain, you will be in charge of budgets and the strategic direction of the sector. This involves analysing data to make improvements if needed, management of resources and materials and promoting sustainability practices from the top.

Essential Skills

• Understanding of Energy Efficiency: Knowledge of energy optimization and how to design, maintain, and adjust systems to maximize efficiency and cost savings.
• Budgeting and Cost Control: Monitor and manage project budgets, ensure proper allocation of resources, and find ways to reduce costs without compromising quality.
• Customer Communication: Ability to clearly explain technical issues, progress updates, and maintenance schedules to residential customers. Ensuring customer satisfaction and addressing concerns. Internal Communication: Coordinating between different departments (e.g., engineering, customer service, logistics) to ensure smooth operations.
• Problem Solving: Ability to quickly address and resolve issues that arise during installation, maintenance, or daily operations.
• Critical thinking: Operations managers use critical thinking skills to solve problems and implement improvements. They can consider an issue and innovate creative solutions that increase efficiency and make room for future progress. Operations managers see obstacles as challenges to overcome and keep a positive attitude when handling setbacks

Qualifications and Training

5 GCSEs at a grade C including English and maths. A levels in Business studies, Finance, and English may be useful
• With specific green jobs, then scientific knowledge may be required.
College courses include Level 3 Business diplomas.
